Over 1000 Danville PG&E Customers Lose Power Tuesday Night

DANVILLE, CA — 1352 PG&E customers were without power in Danville Tuesday night, according to PG&E and the Watch Duty app.

The outage affected a large area west of Danville Boulevard and east of the Las Trampas Wilderness Regional Preserve late Tuesday night. The outage started at 8:37 p.m. and was fully restored at 11:37 p.m., according to PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian.

While the cause of the outage remains under investigation, Sarkissian said that the power line is equipped with Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings, which automatically shut off power when a potential hazard is detected in order to reduce wildfire risk. Sarkissian said there is significant vegetation in the area, and PG&E is planning for additional vegetation trimming and work to isolate power lines to reduce the effects of future outages.

The outage was one of several across the Bay Area Tuesday night, with large outages reported in Stockton, Richmond, and San Mateo County. A heat advisory was issued throughout the region, and Danville reported temperatures in the 80s and upper 70s throughout the night.
