• Addis bill protecting state's monarch habitats passes through committee (montereyherald.com) — Davenport is highlighted as one of Santa Cruz County’s key monarch butterfly overwintering sites that would gain added protection under a new state bill advancing through the Legislature. The Coastal Monarch Protection Act would require coastal cities and counties, including Santa Cruz County, to strengthen habitat protections in their Local Coastal Plans, guided by new model policies from state wildlife and coastal agencies.
