• Davis Staff Backs 374 Acres of Farmland Mitigation for Willowgrove Development (davisvanguard.org) — Davis city staff are urging the City Council to approve a 374-acre farmland conservation easement northwest of town as mitigation for the proposed 1,250-home Willowgrove development, ahead of the November Measure J/R/D vote. The council will consider the plan on Oct. 6, and the easement would only proceed if voters ultimately approve annexing and building Willowgrove outside Davis' northeastern city limits.

• Jordan Fisher runs for 255 yards as UC Davis tops Eastern Washington (cbssports.com) — UC Davis football fans in town saw a big night as running back Jordan Fisher racked up 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 49-38 home win over Eastern Washington. Quarterback Treynor Cleeland added four touchdown passes, helping the Aggies earn their first-ever road-field victory over the Eagles and improve to 4-2 on the season.
