Dublin Releases Final List Of Mayoral And City Council Candidates

Three candidates are running for mayor, four are running for Council District 2, and two are running for Council District 4.

DUBLIN, CA — Three candidates have filed to run for mayor of Dublin, according to official city records. Four candidates are running to represent City Council District 2, and two are running to represent City Council District 4. Incumbent Sherry Hu is running for mayor, and incumbent Kashef Qaadri is running to represent District 4. See here for a district map.

MAYORAL CANDIDATES

Sherry Hu (incumbent): Sherry Hu has served as mayor of Dublin since 2024, and has served on the Dublin City Council since 2020. Hu says her guiding question toward any policy is, “Will this make life better for the people who call Dublin home?” She lists her top priorities as supporting public safety, supporting community businesses, maintaining the city’s budget surplus, maintaining quality of life through investing in parks, infrastructure, and public services; maintaining high-quality public education, and improving traffic and environmental concerns.

“As your Mayor, I have focused on what families feel every day: safety, community, business vitality, and responsible financial management. Dublin has strengthened public safety, opened three new parks, welcomed over 100 new businesses, supported students and schools, expanded cultural programs, and maintained a strong budget surplus while many cities face financial pressure,” she said in a candidate statement.

Michael McCorriston has served on the Dublin City Council since 2020, and has also served as mayor in 2024, and as vice mayor in 2023. His top priorities include supporting public safety and economic vitality, introducing creative solutions to promote affordable housing, and promoting a sustainable environment through reducing traffic congestion and conserving natural resources.

“Dublin needs a leader who listens, acts on residents' concerns, and has proven experience and vision to guide our diverse city. It's about preserving Dublin residents' quality of life,” he said in a candidate statement.

Kiran Mohammad is a writer who listed their top priorities as thoughtful growth, public safety, transportation and mobility, supporting local businesses, using public resources responsibly, and creating neighborhoods where people feel connected to their community.

“My work in human-centered systems design starts with a simple idea: systems work better when they are designed around the people who use them. I want to bring that approach to City Hall – listening to residents, identifying where our systems create unnecessary friction, and developing practical solutions around how people actually live,” Mohammad said in a candidate statement.

CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 2 CANDIDATES

Daniel Hor currently serves on the Dublin Unified School District’s Citizens Bond Oversight Committee and the Shamrock Hills School Parent Faculty Club, in addition to other volunteer initiatives. Hor said he wants the city to maintain its strong quality of life and welcoming atmosphere. He also said he would use his experience as an experience researcher to improve the city.

“My job is to understand people's experiences, identify what works, and use evidence to make things better for people. I'll bring that same approach to City Council: listening, asking questions, and making informed decisions - just as I've done at work for over 10 years,” he said in a candidate statement.

Steve Lorey is a retired U.S. army intelligence professional who holds a bachelor's degree in public safety administration, a master’s degree in public safety administration, and a master’s in leadership studies with an emphasis in community engagement. His top priorities include strengthening public safety, supporting a strong economy, remaining fiscally prudent, and maintaining an inclusive culture.

“As a Dublin resident in District 2, I am committed to pragmatic, people-first public service. My approach centers on connection, collaboration, and community,” he said in a candidate statement. “I will bring steady leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and a collaborative mindset focused on preserving what makes our city special while planning responsibly for its future.

Tejpreet Singh holds a Master of Laws in Business Law and a Bachelors of Law/Juris Doctorate from UCLA. He listed public safety, fiscal responsibility, traffic and infrastructure improvements, thoughtful planning, and support for local businesses, parks, and recreation as his top priorities.

“As a resident, I understand the importance of safe neighborhoods, quality parks, responsible growth, excellent public services. I believe City Hall works best when it listens to residents, is transparent in its policies, and is accountable for every taxpayer dollar,” he said in a candidate statement.

Richard Thornbury is a research chemist in biotech and parks commissioner who listed his top priorities as fiscal responsibility, public safety, and supporting housing affordability through infill and transit-oriented homebuilding. He currently chairs the Dublin Parks and Community Services Commission.

“Dublin is a safe, diverse, vibrant, and family friendly community. I am running for City Council to make sure that we sustain that high quality of life and strive to make Dublin a more affordable place to live,” he said in a statement.

CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 4 CANDIDATES

Shivraj Singh is a business executive who listed enhancing public safety, supporting high-quality public schools and local businesses, maintaining attractive parks and neighborhoods, and planning responsibly for the future as his top priorities.

“Dublin has become one of California's most vibrant communities because of the dedication of its residents and civic leaders. I want to contribute by serving our community with honesty, accountability, and hard work,” he said in a candidate statement.

Kashef Qaadri (incumbent): Qaadri was elected to the Dublin City Council in 2022, and serves on a number of regional and county committees. He listed “thoughtful growth and development,” investing in smart infrastructure that eases traffic congestion, and supporting public safety, parks, and programming that supports families, seniors, and youth.

“I’ve worked to make Dublin safer, more transparent, and more welcoming for everyone by championing Dublin’s diversity, expanding support for our youth, and strengthening our community's regional impact,” he said in a candidate statement.
