Emerald High School Hosting 2nd Emerald Summit Saturday

DUBLIN, CA — On Saturday, Emerald High School will host its second Emerald Summit, a student-driven STEAM conference and workshop.

At the day-long event, over 225 students from five schools across the Tri-Valley will present research, participate in hands-on workshops, and gain feedback from over 30 experts from a variety of disciplines. The summit is organized by the newly-formed Emerald High School Academic Foundation, a DUSD-approved organization dedicated to advancing student academic enrichment, career readiness, and leadership development through partnerships with universities, industry leaders, and local businesses.

Students will present research and exhibitions across several different disciplines, including:

  • Computer science and engineering
  • Medical and health science
  • Art
  • Music
  • Culinary sciences
  • Natural sciences
  • Government and law
  • Business and entrepreneurship
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Climate change & sustainability

Experts will evaluate and present feedback, though the summit is not a competition. All tracks will feature a short panel discussion.

The summit will also feature a keynote address from Dr. Bernard C. Kress, a key architect behind Google Glass and HoloLens who currently serves as Google’s Engineering Executive for Extended Reality. Kress is also the chair and past president of the International Society for Optics and Phonetics, holds over 100 patents, and wrote six books.

The summit will take place from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and is free and open to the community. See here for a full schedule and more information.
