DUBLIN, CA — Three Emerald High School seniors are offering classes in coding and web design for K-12 students. Through their company Silicon Valley Scholars, EHS students Sanjana Gowda, Shely Jain, and Vaidehi Akbari aim to “make coding accessible, creative, and community-driven.”

“We believe that every student - no matter their background or experience - should have the opportunity to learn how to build technology, not just consume it,” the founders said on their website.

The founders have been participating in hackathons, coding projects, and other STEM activities since their freshman year of high school. Sanjana Gowda said that she and her co-founders noticed that many younger students, particularly girls, were not exposed to or encouraged to explore computer science.

“As technology becomes increasingly important in everyday life, we wanted to create opportunities for students of all ages and backgrounds to explore coding in a welcoming and accessible environment,” she said.

They found SVS in the summer of 2025 with three free bootcamps: Intro to Python, Advanced Python, and Intro to Web Design. During the school year, they offered AP Computer Science Essentials and Principles Prep, Intro to Machine Learning, and Intro to Game Development.

This summer, SVS is also offering free Intro to Python and Intro to Web Design courses. They are also offering an eight-week “Passion Project” bootcamp for $170 that allows participants to create an original tech project and build a portfolio piece. During the year, they also tutor in a variety of subjects, including math, English, and computer science. Proceeds are reinvested into resources for SVS.

The co-founders have presented at Tech Night at the Cottonwood Creek K-8 School, and presented at several Fallon Middle School Engineering Club meetings.

Since the summer of 2025, Gowda, Jain, and Akbari have taught more than 80 students through their courses and events.
