Encinitas Election Forums Set For September (patch.com) — Encinitas residents will have two chances this month to hear directly from candidates for City Council District 3 and mayor at community forums hosted by the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council Committee of Cardiff 101 Main Street. The events at Ada W. Harris Elementary School will feature moderated Q&A sessions, and community members are invited to submit questions in advance by email for both the council and mayoral races.
   

2. Red light cameras may come back to Encinitas (timesofsandiego.com) — Encinitas leaders are weighing whether to bring back red‑light cameras at city intersections, with a key council hearing set for Sept. 9. Supporters cite recent pedestrian deaths and a new state law that treats violations like parking tickets. Officials are also beginning to explore speed cameras, which could further change how Encinitas enforces traffic safety.
   

3. Encinitas Parks and Rec committee approves new Wiro Park playground design (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Encinitas residents in Olivenhain can expect a fully redesigned Wiro Park playground, after the city's Parks and Recreation Commission backed a community-shaped plan with more swings, climbing features, and rubber surfacing. The proposal, funded partly by a state grant, now heads to Encinitas City Council this fall for final approval that will determine the project's timeline.
   

4. Who's News: 9/4/26 (thecoastnews.com) — Local residents might be especially interested that the San Dieguito Art Guild, which owns Encinitas' Off Track Gallery on Coast Highway 101, has sworn in a new board for 2026‑27. Encinitas residents are directly tied in through Senator Catherine Blakespear, whose companion bill would permanently establish the wolf coexistence program in state law, though it carries no funding itself.
