• Encinitas school district settles lawsuit over gender identity lesson (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Encinitas families should know that Encinitas Union School District has settled a lawsuit over a gender-identity lesson at La Costa Heights Elementary and agreed to pay $175,000. More importantly, the district has changed its policy to require at least five days' notice and an opt-out option for lessons that could substantially interfere with a family's religious beliefs, aligning with a recent Supreme Court ruling.
   

• Bluff failure leads to Grandview Beach access closure (northcoastcurrent.com) — Access to Grandview Beach in Encinitas' Leucadia neighborhood is closed after a bluff failure prompted officials to shut the stairway and warn of further potential collapses within 300 feet. Crews are working on the problem, but there's no reopening timeline yet. The closure follows recent repairs to the staircase and recalls a deadly 2019 bluff collapse that spurred new safety research.
