• Placer County deputies kill man after hourslong gunbattle, manhunt near Mineral Fire (ksbw.com) — A man believed to be from the Fair Oaks area was killed by Placer County deputies after an overnight gunbattle and manhunt near the Mineral Fire, following the fatal shooting of a woman in a nearby home. Investigators say he may have started multiple fires, including the Mineral Fire, and link him to recent arrests and an armed carjacking in El Dorado County.
