📰 News we're reading

• Doctors and nurses, not AI, must perform medicine under new state law (mercurynews.com) — A new California law taking effect January 1 will require that licensed doctors and nurses—not AI systems—make key medical decisions, a change that directly affects care at places like Kaiser Permanente in Fremont. Local nurse leader Michelle Gutierrez Vo says staff are worried algorithms are already edging into their roles, while hospitals insist AI will remain only a support tool under the tighter rules.
