1. How did Dolly Parton leave her mark on Fresno County? (yourcentralvalley.com) — Families across Fresno County can enroll children under five in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which is already mailing free books to more than 13,000 local kids and aiming for 25,000 by year two. Backed by $400,000 in local funds matched by the state, the First Five of Fresno County–run program is helping address low third-grade reading levels with monthly, age-appropriate books delivered right to homes.

2. Fresno State receives $4.36M to launch The Forge (thebusinessjournal.com) — Fresno State is getting $4.36 million to build The Forge, a new innovation hub that will help local entrepreneurs prototype and commercialize advanced manufacturing, ag-tech, and biotech ideas. Backed by California Jobs First, the project ties Fresno State, Fresno County EDC, and the cities of Fresno and Clovis into a broader Central Valley manufacturing push aimed at creating local jobs and keeping startups here.

3. Student helps prevent planned 9/11 'mass stabbing' at a Fresno high school (yourcentralvalley.com) — A Fresno student's decision to speak up helped police arrest a suspect accused of planning a mass stabbing at Duncan High School on September 11. The warning message was shared among students, a parent, and then Fresno Police, who say that chain of communication likely prevented an attack on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

4. New details emerge as accused killers of Clovis educator appear in court (abc30.com) — A married couple accused in the death of Clovis educator Geoff Bernardi made their first appearance before a Fresno County judge, with arraignment delayed until early September. Authorities say the pair were arrested in Mexico and returned to Fresno County, as Bernardi's family and other men alleging past conflicts with Misty Gomez watched closely while the suspects remain jailed on high bail.

5. Suspect in Fresno Courthouse Park stabbing appears before judge (abc30.com) — A man accused of stabbing a prosecutor in Downtown Fresno's Courthouse Park appeared briefly in court, where his arraignment was postponed and a defense attorney appointed.
