• Garden Grove police officer faces felony charges over alleged sexual relationship with 16-year-old Explorer (latimes.com subscription) — Garden Grove residents should know that a former city police officer has been charged with multiple felonies involving unlawful sexual conduct with a 16-year-old participant in the department’s Explorer program. Prosecutors say the department learned of the alleged misconduct in late June, arrested the officer the next day, and he is no longer employed. The Explorer program remains open to youth 14 to 21 interested in law enforcement careers.
