• Fire Service Costs Expected to Rise in Gridley (gridleyherald.com) — Gridley residents could see higher fire service costs as the city reviews its cooperative contract with CAL FIRE ahead of a July 1 renewal. At an April 6 special council meeting, officials heard proposals to add staffing at Station 74, maintain regional response strength, and balance safety standards with budget limits, but postponed any final decision.
   

• Dogs Go 1-3 in Central Coast Baseball Classic (gridleyherald.com) — Gridley High’s Bulldogs baseball team went 1–3 at the Central Coast Baseball Classic but finished with a dramatic walk-off win over Merced. Local standouts like Tanner Abbott, Marcus Duncan, and Trey Rosser had key moments despite tough losses, and the tournament is helping Gridley gear up for important Westside League games.
   

• Butte County stays with current arts partner (chicoer.com) — Gridley is specifically named as one of the Butte County communities where arts programming could expand under the State Theatre Arts Guild’s vision. But supervisors ultimately voted 3-2 to keep Friends of the Arts as the county’s official Local Arts Agency, preserving existing grant arrangements and partnerships while leaving future outreach to towns like Gridley to be shaped under the current provider.
