Firefighters from several agencies responded and used jacks to lift the motorhome to free the girl. She was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland with major injuries, according to press reports.

CHP was notified at about 4:30 p.m. that the child had died from her injuries, CHP spokesperson David deRutte told reporters.

The driver was identified only as a family friend.

Salt Point State Park is located on the Sonoma County coast, about 20 miles north of Jenner. The investigation remains ongoing.
