• Hollister council delays fiscal reserve policy to bridge projected $6 million deficit (benitolink.com) — Hollister City Council has temporarily abandoned its 20% reserve policy to help close a projected $6 million deficit, a move that could still mean cutting up to 25 positions. City leaders are weighing layoffs, furloughs, and service reductions while planning an eight-year path to rebuild reserves and fund police, fire, and road needs. Another budget discussion is set for June 15.
   

• June 11, 2026 For Immediate Release: (ca.gov) — San Benito County’s Civil Grand Jury has released its 2025–26 final report, spotlighting concerns about the Hollister Bike Rally, county jail operations, and transparency at Sunnyslope County Water District. Residents can now read the findings and recommendations on the Superior Court’s website to better understand how local agencies are performing and where improvements are urged.
   

• Touching up the 'Birthplace of the American Biker' mural for the Rally (benitolink.com) — With the Hollister Biker Rally coming July 4–5, 85-year-old artist Ronald Rocha is freshening up the iconic “Birthplace of the American Biker” mural at Johnny’s Bar and Grill. The piece, inspired by the 1947 Hollister motorcycle riot and the film “The Wild One,” is getting long-overdue touch-ups after sun damage and graffiti, just in time for rally visitors.
