📰 News we're reading

• IID procures more than $20 million in disaster relief funds (kesq.com) — Indio residents served by Imperial Irrigation District will benefit from more than $22 million in state disaster relief funds to repair storm-damaged power infrastructure. IID says the money will help fix poles, lines, and related systems hit by 2025 monsoon storms, aiming to protect customers from bearing the full repair costs and improve reliability across the eastern Coachella Valley.

• Coachella Weekend 2 campers share costs, navigate traffic (kesq.com) — Coachella campers in Indio are breaking down how much they’re spending on passes, food, and gear while warning about heavy traffic and confusing drop-off directions getting into town. Many say splitting camping costs and prepping groceries helps, and despite the hassles, waking up right at the festival grounds makes the Indio stay worth it.

• Palo Verde Hospital CEO steps down (desertsun.com) — Residents in eastern Riverside County who sometimes rely on Indio’s JFK Memorial Hospital should know Blythe’s Palo Verde Hospital CEO is stepping down after nearly 13 years, amid ongoing financial and service challenges. Riverside County is temporarily managing the Blythe facility’s emergency department, and patients may still face long drives to Indio or Needles for hospital care.
