Two Indio women jailed in Thousand Palms assault case (kesq.com) — Two 19-year-old Indio women were arrested and jailed in Indio following an alleged assault on two sisters inside a Thousand Palms home, according to sheriff’s officials. Deputies say multiple suspects entered the residence, attacked the women, and tried unsuccessfully to drag one victim outside before fleeing. Investigators later made arrests at two separate Indio locations and are still seeking more information.
   

2. Panel rejects Oasis at Indio development; city council to decide (desertsun.com) — A massive mixed-use project called Oasis at Indio, proposed for north Indio near I-10, has been rejected by the city’s planning commission but now heads to the city council for a final decision. The plan could add thousands of apartments, major industrial space, and a hotel, but residents worry about air quality, traffic, and the city’s gateway feel, while developers tout jobs, park land, and new revenue.
   

3. FIND Regional Food Bank CEO Debbie Espinosa to Depart for Leadership Role at Harvesters (kesq.com) — FIND Regional Food Bank, headquartered in Indio, is preparing for a leadership change as longtime President and CEO Debbie Espinosa departs in August to lead a Midwestern food bank. Under her tenure, FIND opened a major Indio warehouse that boosted food storage and job-training programs, and the board now plans a national search while assuring residents that local hunger-relief services will continue uninterrupted.
   

4. Indio Police Officer Arrested for Allegedly Brandishing Firearm (mynewsla.com) — An Indio police officer has been arrested after an off-duty incident in Bermuda Dunes in which he allegedly brandished a firearm and tried to dissuade a witness; he’s now booked at the Benoit Detention Center in Indio. The Indio Police Department says he’s on paid administrative leave during a criminal investigation and internal review, and deputies are asking anyone with information to come forward.
