• Update: California's Oldest Tree is Protected (raincrossgazette.com) — Jurupa Valley residents can now count on permanent protection for the ancient Jurupa Oak after conservation groups and the Rio Vista developer agreed to expand its buffer to 1,000 feet and secure over 54 acres of open space. The deal, which followed a lawsuit challenging the city’s earlier approval of the project, also opens the door to preserving even more nearby land for wildlife and cultural values.
