• $500k+ Sinkhole Repair Is About to Disrupt a Lafayette-Walnut Creek Road Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Drivers who rely on Springbrook Road between Lafayette and Walnut Creek face weekday daytime closures starting Thursday, Oct. 1, as Contra Costa County repairs a failed culvert and sinkhole. Expect signed detours, up to 15-minute delays for local residents, and construction running through Nov. 30 during 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. work hours, weather permitting.
   

• These 11 Bay Area Starbucks Stores To Permanently Close This Weekend (patch.com) — Lafayette coffee drinkers will lose the Starbucks at 3547 Mt. Diablo Blvd., which is closing permanently at 7 p.m. Friday as part of a broader wave of Bay Area shutdowns. Eleven regional stores will close before Sunday, and employees are still waiting to learn whether they’ll be transferred or out of work altogether.
