'Go Back To Mexico': Viral Video Captures Confrontation During Proposal At Laguna Beach Park

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A confrontation during a marriage proposal at a Laguna Beach park turned ugly, and the escalation was caught on now-viral video.

The incident happened on Friday, Oct. 2 at Crescent Bay Point Park in Laguna Beach, when a videographer and photographer were at the scene coordinating a surprise marriage proposal to take place that afternoon.

Now-viral footage of the encounter shows a woman confronting the crew while they were hiding from the couple, who were making their way to their romantic proposal set-up, which included rose petals and a mariachi band.

"The park is for people who live here and enjoy the park and have picnics," the woman says in the video.

"No, I understand ma'am, we'll be out soon," one of the crew members replies.

"I don't care. It's every single f—king weekend and I'm sick and tired of it," she answers.

The crew tells the woman that they weren't at the park the previous weekend, but the confrontation escalates when the couple arrives onto the scene and a mariachi band begins to play.

"Bulls—t. It's f—king Mexican. This isn't Mexico either, you motherf—kers," the woman is heard saying.

As she walks past the couple, she can be heard yelling: "Go back to Mexico."

Laguna Beach Spokesperson Lauren Ezell said the city is currently aware of the incident, though it was unknown whether or not police were called to the scene.

"Laguna Beach has long been a place of acceptance and inclusion," Ezell said. "We reject hateful language and behavior of any kind as it does not reflect our communities values."

Ezell noted that while the city's parks and beaches are open to everyone and are often the backdrop for milestone celebrations, pre-planned set-ups and professional photography have specific rules and permit requirements.

It was not immediately known whether or not the photographer or videographer were permitted to shoot at the park.

The video has since amassed thousands of viewers online, with many users voicing support for the couple and outrage toward the woman.

"How can you live in such a beautiful place and be so miserable?" Robbiebobby17 wrote on Instagram.

"As long as they pick all the stuff up off the ground I don’t see the problem," Noellelinnea wrote on Instagram. "Also, a proposal is not really an event — It’s not like the wedding is being held there."
