I-215 Injury Crash Slows Drive Near March Air Reserve Base
A SIG Alert was called into play to clear the interstate of debris from the dramatic crash on northbound I-215 at the Ramona Expressway.
MEAD VALLEY, CA — A motorist was injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 215 in Mead Valley, where California Highway Patrol officers shut down several traffic lanes due to the amount of crash debris.
The wreck was reported at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on northbound I-215 at the Ramona Expressway, according to the CHP.
The agency said an SUV and a Mazda sedan impacted in the middle lane, causing one of the vehicles to veer out of control and plow into a guardrail on the shoulder of the freeway.

Further details were not immediately available. No other vehicles were involved.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and found one of the motorists suffering from unspecified minor to moderate injuries. The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.

CHP officers shut down two of three northbound lanes because of the amount of debris obstructing traffic. The fast lane remained open.
A Sigalert was issued at 11:05 a.m. due to the ensuing traffic jam. A Caltrans crew was expected to have the lanes clear by noon.
The cause of the collision was under investigation.
