Pacific Chamber Orchestra Announces New Administrative Director

Position as the Organization Expands Programs and Community Presence

Pacific Chamber Orchestra (PCO) announces the creation of a new half-time Administrative Director position as the organization continues expanding its concerts, educational outreach, fundraising, and community programming. A resident company at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, PCO also performs in Lafayette and other Bay Area venues.

Music Director Lawrence Kohl said, “Since Covid, we’ve expanded our Classics Concerts and educational programs, added a family holiday concert, brought emerging young American composers from across the country to California, and established a major community fundraising event.”

For its upcoming 37th season, PCO programs include three Classics concerts—Strings Alive, featuring Barber’s Adagio for Strings; Mozart Rocks Again; and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4—along with Handel’s Messiah. Also included in the season is a new Disney-musicals-themed family holiday concert celebrating “Magic, Adventure and Love”; Winning Scores which debuts the world premiere of original music by emerging young American composers; Discover Music Now educational assemblies in public schools; and the 4th annual Tri-Valley Craft Cocktail Competition.

To support these programs and the increasing scope of PCO’s activities, the new position, according to the Search Committee, “Calls for a strong generalist to provide administrative leadership focusing on concert promotion and development with community engagement and operational oversight.”

For someone passionate about helping connect live classical music with the broader community, the position offers opportunities for patron, donor, volunteer, and Board relationship-building. It also includes behind-the-scenes artistic access and a flexible remote work structure integrated in tune with the concert season.
