Livermore Election Results: Where The Races Stand As Counting Continues
Candidates for City Council and school board held leads Wednesday, with some races still too close to call.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore Councilmember Ben Barrientos maintained a comfortable lead in his race for re-election in City Council District 2. As of Wednesday at 2:07 a.m., with 100% of precincts reporting, Barrientos led rival Narayan Tadimeti 69.34% (2,691 votes) to 30.66% (1,190 votes.)
Council District 2 was the only competitive race this election cycle, as Mayor John Marchand and Councilmember Evan Branning ran unopposed. Barrientos, an educator and wrestling coach elected to the City Council in 2022, listed protection of the urban growth boundary, completion of Springtown Community Park, environmental preservation, and increased arts funding as some of the top issues currently facing Livermore. A critic of the Eden Housing Project, Barrientos said that if re-elected, he will try to move the housing to north of Railroad Avenue, away from its proposed site.
Tadimeti, a physician specializing in pulmonary care and sleep medicine, listed housing affordability and homelessness, road traffic, and responsible growth as some of the top issues facing the city. Tadimeti said the city needs housing for all income levels while still protecting its open space and agricultural heritage.
