• I-580 Crash Sparks 10-Acre Fire, Prompts SigAlert (patch.com) — A multi-vehicle crash on I-580 near the I-205 interchange by Livermore sparked a car fire that quickly spread to 10 acres of nearby grassland. Firefighters stopped the blaze's forward progress within minutes and reached full containment by mid-afternoon, while CHP briefly closed all lanes in both directions before gradually reopening the freeway.
   

• Anwary Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week (sjsuspartans.com) — Granada High alum Amir Anwary of Livermore has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and two assists in San José State's 4-2 win over Saint Mary's. The sophomore forward, who has started all three games this season, is emerging as a key offensive force heading into a marquee matchup with top-ranked Stanford.
