Arrest Made In Stabbing That Wounded Girl In Long Beach
A person who police say stabbed a girl in a Long Beach park has been arrested.
LONG BEACH, CA — A person who police say stabbed a girl in a park is now in custody following their arrest.
Long Beach Police Department officers were called at 9:25 p.m. Monday to the 100 block of Pacific Avenue in downtown Long Beach, between East Broadway and East First Street regarding a stabbing.
When they arrived, the officers learned the suspect, whose gender police did not release, stabbed a juvenile female during an altercation, Lt. Benjamin Vargas told City News Service.

Video from the location showed a male in handcuffs at the scene and the victim being loaded into an ambulance.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim confronted the suspect during the argument, which led to the stabbing, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before officers' arrival but was located nearby and taken into custody, Vargas said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition by Long Beach Fire personnel. The circumstances and motive are under investigation, Vargas said.
