Man Dies Following Long Beach Hit-And-Run, Suspect Still On The Loose

Long Beach Police detectives are investigating after a man died Wednesday following a hit-and-run collision near the Rose Park area.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach Police detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred near Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street.

At about 1:05 am on Feb. 28, officers responded to the area of Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street regarding a hit-and-run traffic collision.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult pedestrian lying unconscious in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the man to a local hospital.

The man, identified as Ronald Sera, 57, of Montebello, died of his injuries on April 15.

Preliminary findings revealed that a Toyota Previa Van was traveling west on Anaheim Street and collided with the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk of Redondo Avenue.

The van then continued traveling west on Anaheim Street and out of sight.

"Suspect information is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing," the LBPD said in a statement.
