1. $1M Bail For Suspect In Long Beach Catalytic Converter Theft Shooting (patch.com) — Long Beach residents are learning more about a July shooting in which a 43-year-old man was wounded after confronting suspected catalytic converter thieves outside his home on East Goldfield Avenue. Police say an 18-year-old San Pedro man is jailed on $1 million bail on suspicion of attempted murder, while two other Los Angeles men have also been identified as suspects as the multi-agency investigation continues.
   

2. Passenger Jumps Overboard From Long Beach-Bound Cruise Ship (patch.com) — Long Beach–area travelers are watching closely as U.S. and Mexican authorities search for a 56-year-old man who went overboard from the Carnival Panorama while it was sailing back to Long Beach from Mexico. The case, which echoes a 2021 overboard incident on another Long Beach-based Carnival ship, highlights how rare such events are and how difficult successful rescues can be despite modern safety technology.
   

3. 80-Year-Old Woman With Cognitive Impairment Missing In Long Beach (patch.com) — Long Beach residents are being asked to help locate 80-year-old Yanlin Gao, who has cognitive impairment and was last seen Sunday afternoon near the 4600 block of Los Coyotes Diagonal. Authorities released her physical description and what she was wearing, and urged anyone who spots her or has information to contact the Sheriff's Missing Persons Unit or Crime Stoppers immediately.
   

4. Man Killed After Being Struck By 3 Vehicles In Long Beach Identified (patch.com) — Long Beach police have identified the pedestrian killed after being hit by three vehicles on Pacific Avenue as 65-year-old Juvenal Banderas. Investigators say one driver stayed and cooperated, but two others left the scene and are still being sought, and they're asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Collision Investigation Detail or Crime Stoppers.
   

5. Long Beach's annual Ranchos Walk returns for residents to walk through city's history (presstelegram.com) — Long Beach residents can join the free Ranchos Walk on Saturday, Sept. 26, exploring a 9.4‑mile historic route between Rancho Los Cerritos and Rancho Los Alamitos with shorter options available. The walk highlights Long Beach history, neighborhood improvements, and the city's Safe Streets Action Plan, with shuttles from Cal State Long Beach, rest stops, and a post‑hike celebration featuring music, games, and food.
