1 Dead In Multi-Vehicle Collision In Norwalk Involving 16 Vehicles

One person died in a multi-vehicle collision Tuesday in Norwalk.

NORWALK, CA — One person died in a multi-vehicle collision Tuesday in Norwalk.

Two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue around 12:52 a.m. when one vehicle rear-ended the other, causing them both to roll over several times, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

A total of 15 vehicles were struck in the collision near Rosecrans and Longworth avenues, including five moving vehicles and 11 parked vehicles, the sheriff's department said.

The driver who died was ejected from his vehicle, according to the sheriff's department.

A third vehicle was traveling behind the two vehicles and collided into multiple parked vehicles, authorities said.

The collision was being investigated to have possibly been caused by vehicles racing, the sheriff's deputy said.

Another driver was treated by emergency personnel at the scene but not transported to the hospital, authorities said.

Authorities were still investigating the scene as of 3:55 a.m., a sheriff's deputy said.
