2nd Boat In 2 Days Takes On Water At Port Of Los Angeles

SAN PEDRO, CA — Firefighters were dewatering a 50-foot vessel that took on about two feet of water Sunday at a berth at the Port of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday to Berth 42, where the boat was slowly taking on water, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The leak was stopped and the crew started de-watering operations.

No injuries were reported and the Los Angeles Port Police were notified of the incident.

It was the second such response in two days. On Saturday, three people were rescued from a 40-foot commercial fishing boat that was taking on water south of Terminal Island.

It was not immediately clear why either boat started taking on water.
