Costco Rolls Out New Chicken Tenders At CA Food Courts

Costco food courts across California are quietly adding chicken tenders to their menus, marking one of the warehouse chain’s biggest food court changes in years, SFGATE reported.

The new offering includes five thick, baked chicken tenders served with a creamy orange dipping sauce. The meal costs $6.99 before tax and ranges from 1,130 to 1,640 calories, according to menu signs cited by the publication.

The tenders appeared July 11 at Costco locations in Alhambra and Los Feliz in the Los Angeles area, as well as the Rosedale Highway warehouse in Bakersfield, workers told SFGATE.

Some Bay Area stores received the new item earlier. A Santa Rosa employee said the tenders arrived July 6, while a Concord worker said they had been available for several days by July 15. Social media users have also reported finding them at Costco food courts in Livermore and Pleasanton.

The tenders have replaced Costco’s calzone and have already generated long lines and longer food court waits at some Los Angeles-area locations, according to SFGATE.

Unlike traditional fried tenders, Costco’s version is baked, giving the chicken a softer texture without a crispy breaded coating. Costco also sells versions of chicken tenders at food courts in Canada and Australia.
