Food and Event News for October in Los Angeles

Fall is here and LA is having lots of events. Here are suggestions of where to go, what to eat and what to see this October.

Halloween Events

Youth Halloween Carnival at Plummer Park
From 2–5 p.m., Plummer Park becomes a family-friendly Halloween destination with a trackless train, carnival games, face painting, arts and crafts, live entertainment, treats, a costume showcase and the Haunted Spooky Exhibit. Pets can dress up, too. Admission is free

WeHo Halloween Carnival
Halloween night from 6–11 p.m. The free celebration takes over a mile of Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard. Expect thousands of elaborate costumes, a stage at Santa Monica and San Vicente with a live DJ, food trucks and Halloween celebrations throughout West Hollywood.

Carved at Descanso Gardens
From October 2 to November 1, Descanso Gardens transforms for Carved, where its gardens are decorated with seasonal art installations and sculptures. For the first time, it will also host a trick-or-treat event on the evening of Halloween, which is included with regular admission.

Maya’s Queen Mary Haunted Escape Package
Through November 1, The Maya in Long Beach pairs chilling thrills with hospitality this Halloween season. Opt for the hotel’s Haunter Harbor Escape package for staycation in Long Beach, inclusive of two tickets to the Queen Mary’s paranormal tours, two beverages at the Fuego lounge and complimentary parking, alongside a stay at The Maya.

Night of the Jack
Through November 1, visit Enchanted Hollow against the backdrop of the South Coast Botanic Garden. Featuring over 10,000 carved jack o’ lanterns.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal
Through November 1, become immersed in the world of Sinners’ bloodthirsty vampires and fight off Vecna in Universal Studios’ annual Horror Nights. In addition to the mazes, walk through scare zones or take the Terror Tram to visit with the wandering zombies and scary beings.

BLOCtober at the BLOC
Head to the BLOC on October 17 for pumpkins, an outdoor movie and treats. Free and open to the community. 700 W. 7^th Street, 5 to 7pm.

Coffee Bean Celebrates 63^rd Anniversary
Coffee Bean celebrates their 63^rd anniversary with a month-long celebration. Guests who spend $15 can get a free mini tote and collectible patch. There are 12 patch designs with releases on Oct. 7 and 14.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles
The annual AIDS walk will be from 9am to 2pm. Begins at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Blvd, parking at Pacific Design Center.

Hart and Hunter Returns
The Hart and Hunter has reopened in its original Palihotel Melrose location in WeHo. Located at 7950 Melrose Ave.

Divine Vintage Opens on Montana Avenue
Divine Vintage on Montana Avenue, a street side parklet, is now open featuring pizza, cheeses and charcuterie.

New Dining at The Sun Rose West Hollywood
Christian’s, a new wine bar and dining destination; Oleander, a rooftop dining experience and Yuhi, a sushi concept have all opened at The Sun Rose.

The Outsiders at the Pantages
At the Hollywood Pantages, October is unusually packed. The Outsiders, winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, runs Sept. 30–Oct. 18. There's also a special Pantages Pride Night performance on Oct. 14. Bonnie Raitt takes over the theater Oct. 20–21, Bluey's Big Play arrives Oct. 23–25, and The Who's Tommy begins Oct. 27 and runs through Nov. 15.

Ahmanson
At the Ahmanson Theatre, Dog Man: The Musical continues through Oct. 18. Then Meredith Willson's classic The Music Man arrives Oct. 27 and runs through Nov. 8.

Jimmy Johns Offers Swicy Pickle Bites
