Los Angeles County deputies fatally shot a man in Bellflower on Sunday afternoon after a woman was found dead inside a home in the area.

According to department officials, deputies responded to a call for a person in distress in the 95000 block of Maplewood Street at around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, they observed an 80-year-old woman lying face down through the window and entered to find her in a pool of blood.
Deputies said that while they began to make their way through the home, they came face to face with the suspect, who was allegedly armed with a gun. The exact circumstances leading up to the shooting were immediately disclosed, but deputies opened fire and killed the man.
