Detectives say a small, dark SUV fled eastbound after the crash, and the city is offering up to $50,000 for tips that lead to finding the driver or resolving the case.

Gunman Opens Fire At LA Senior Housing Facility, Wounding 3 In Workplace Rampage (patch.com) — Residents in South Los Angeles are reeling after an employee allegedly opened fire inside the Progressive Home for the Elderly, wounding three coworkers and critically injuring one. LAPD officers rushed to the Denver Avenue facility within minutes, rescuing victims from the lobby and arresting the suspected gunman on another floor, while officials stressed that no elderly residents were hurt and there is no ongoing threat.
   

4. 5 Dead As West Nile Virus Cases Surge Across LA County (patch.com) — Los Angeles County health officials are warning residents after 100 West Nile virus cases and five deaths have been reported, with severe illnesses seen across the region. With peak mosquito season underway, authorities urge Angelenos to use repellents, eliminate standing water, and maintain pools and yards to reduce mosquito breeding and protect vulnerable neighbors.
   

5. Cindy Crawford's Son Presley Gerber Dies At 27: Report (patch.com) — Los Angeles readers are learning that Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died at 27, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office. He reportedly passed away Sunday at a rehab facility in the region, following earlier legal troubles in Beverly Hills and a modeling career that began in Southern California.
