LA Named No. 2 City In US For Vegans And Vegetarians (patch.com) — Plant-based eaters in Los Angeles can take pride in a new WalletHub ranking that names the city the second-best in the nation for vegans and vegetarians. From abundant affordable restaurants to strong access to farmers markets, organic farms, cooking classes, and meetups, Angelenos have extensive options for eating and living vegetarian or vegan without leaving town.
   

2. New Typhus Outbreak Hits LA As Flea-Borne Disease Surges To Record Levels (patch.com) — Los Angeles residents are being urged to protect themselves and their pets as a localized typhus outbreak in Wilshire Center contributes to record-high flea-borne typhus cases countywide. With most patients requiring hospitalization and infections rising sharply since 2018, health officials stress year-round flea control, avoiding contact with stray animals, and blocking wildlife access to homes.
   

3. Category 5 Hurricane Polo Could Send Rain, Dangerous Surf To Battered SoCal (patch.com) — Southern California, including Los Angeles, is watching powerful Hurricane Polo off Mexico's coast, which could send large surf and dangerous rip currents to already battered beaches. Forecasters say LA should stay mostly dry through the weekend, but Polo's eventual track and interaction with other systems could still funnel tropical moisture north, bringing possible rain next week.
   

4. Driver, occupant sought following deadly hit-and-run in South LA (nbclosangeles.com) — Police are searching for a man and woman who fled on foot after their vehicle struck two pedestrians in South Los Angeles on Tuesday night, killing one person and injuring another on the 5900 block of 10th Street. Authorities have not released victim details or a vehicle description yet, and they're asking the public to stay alert as the investigation continues.
   

5. Dodgers extend home winning streak to 11 with shutout of Padres (statenews.net) — The Dodgers stretched their home winning streak to 11 games at Dodger Stadium, blanking the Padres 7–0 as Freddie Freeman drove in three runs and Will Smith and Tommy Edman homered. Los Angeles is now just one game behind Milwaukee for the NL's best record, with its magic number for a top-two seed and first-round playoff bye down to one.
