SGV Man Admits Robbing Mail Carriers, Using Stolen Keys To Steal Mail: DOJ (patch.com) — Residents across Los Angeles County are learning that a San Gabriel Valley man has admitted to robbing two USPS mail carriers, then using stolen keys to raid apartment mailboxes around Baldwin Park. Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles say he also fought postal inspectors during his arrest and illegally possessed ammunition tied to a ghost gun, with sentencing set for December and decades in prison possible.

Man Missing From Marina Del Rey Considered At Risk, Possibly Armed: Sheriff (patch.com) — People in Los Angeles, especially around Marina del Rey, are being urged to watch for 54-year-old Randall Michael White, who is missing, considered at risk and may be armed. Sheriff's officials say he could be driving a black 2026 Chevrolet Silverado and note that he struggles with depression, with family and investigators urgently seeking tips on his whereabouts.
   

3. More Than 100 Earthquakes Rattle LA County In Days, With Another Thursday Afternoon (patch.com) — A series of more than 100 small earthquakes, capped by a magnitude 3.1 temblor near Compton on Thursday afternoon, has rattled Los Angeles County but caused no reported injuries or damage. Seismologists say the swarm is clustered near the Newport-Inglewood fault, a historically dangerous fault that runs through parts of the LA area and has produced deadly quakes in the past.
   

4. Rare Sea Snakes, Tropical Fish Could Turn Up Along LA County Coast During El Niño (patch.com) — Warmer El Niño waters are expected to bring rare sea snakes, tropical fish, and even unusual sharks to the Los Angeles County coastline in the coming months. Local experts at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County explain how these changing conditions could affect marine life, from stranded yellow-bellied sea snakes on LA-area beaches to food shortages and health risks for seals and sea lions.
   

5. L.A. Fire Survivors Launch Insurance Accountability Survey to Help Get Billions Owed to Families – The Los Angeles Post (lapost.us) — Los Angeles fire survivors are being urged to take a new survey that will publicly track which insurers are delaying, denying, or properly paying wildfire claims across the city. Partnering with UCLA, organizers hope the anonymized data will spotlight patterns of underpayment and help unlock billions in owed recovery funds so more local families can rebuild and return home.
