Pratt Accuses Bass Of Breaking Election Laws — And Capturing It All On Video

"She is so accustomed to breaking the law with no accountability, she even filmed herself doing it," Pratt wrote.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt accused incumbent Mayor Karen Bass of violating election laws on Tuesday.

Pratt on Tuesday shared a social media video posted by Bass' campaign that appears to show the mayor dropping off her completed ballot at a dropbox. In the video, Bass is shown speaking to a group of supporters holding signs in support of her campaign who had gathered around the dropbox.

"Karen Bass just violated election law here. She is so accustomed to breaking the law with no accountability, she even filmed herself doing it," Pratt wrote in an X post.

Under state law, candidates are prohibited from campaigning within 100 feet of a polling place. They cannot engage in electioneering, soliciting votes or speaking to voters regarding their ballot within that area. The law also involves a prohibition on displaying a candidate's name, likeness or logo.

Pratt said his attorney on Tuesday filed a formal complaint about the matter with the City Clerk's Office.

"Karen Bass has violated the law by soliciting votes, holding signs asking voters to vote for her, describing the qualifications/process of casting a ballot, and engaging in blatant electioneering directly near a polling place and drop box location," reads the complaint, a copy of which Pratt posted on X.

A Bass campaign spokesperson said the video was filed Sunday at a park 200 feet away from a ballot box.

"Spencer is just mad that his supporters are AI cartoons and we have real Angelenos. We follow the rules," the spokesperson said.
