Sheriff’s Detective Wounded In Desert Shooting
The detective was wounded in the Wednesday afternoon shooting.
PALMDALE, CA — A San Bernardino County sheriff’s detective was shot Wednesday afternoon while conducting an investigation in the Antelope Valley, authorities said.
The shooting occurred near Avenue R and 130th Street East in Littlerock. The detective was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The department did not immediately release information about the detective’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Los Angeles County firefighters responded shortly after 3 p.m. to the 13000 block of East Avenue R for a reported gunshot wound, KTLA reported. The station described the area as being near Littlerock, an unincorporated community southeast of Palmdale.
The detective was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital, according to KTLA.

Unconfirmed reports cited by KTLA indicated that one of two suspects may also have been wounded while another remained at large.
Authorities had not publicly confirmed those details — or any other information about the shooting — as of late Wednesday afternoon.
Aerial footage showed a large law enforcement presence at the remote scene, including Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators. Deputies placed yellow tape around an area near two San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department vehicles, KTLA reported.
The investigation remains active, sheriff’s officials said.
