Toys R Us Opening This Fall At Valley Mall

The once-dominant toy retailer will open in the San Fernando Valley as it continues rebuilding its U.S. store footprint.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Toys R Us will open a new store at Northridge Fashion Center this fall, a spokesperson for mall owner GGP confirmed to Patch.

The store will be located on Level 2 across from Sephora, the spokesperson said. An exact opening date has not been announced.

The confirmation comes as Toys R Us continues expanding its brick-and-mortar presence years after closing its U.S. stores.

The retailer's website now lists more than 30 standalone and flagship locations nationwide, in addition to Toys R Us shops inside Macy's stores.

Toys R Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2017 and shuttered its U.S. locations the following year. Brand management company WHP Global acquired a controlling stake in Toys R Us in 2021 and has since pursued a broader return to physical retail, according to Fox Business.
