Trucking Company Scheme Used To Steal $2M In Cargo Across SoCal: Feds
The scheme targeted shipments of televisions, laptops, appliances and other consumer goods across Southern California, prosecutors said.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Two men were convicted Tuesday in a cargo theft scheme that prosecutors said used legitimate trucking companies to steal at least $2 million worth of electronics, appliances and other goods from warehouses across Southern California.
A federal jury found Arshpreet Singh, 28, of Sacramento, and Vikramjeet Singh, 31, of Fontana, guilty of conspiracy to commit theft from interstate or foreign shipments.
Arshpreet Singh was also convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Vikramjeet Singh was acquitted of the wire fraud conspiracy charge.

The men and their co-conspirators bought or fraudulently used established trucking companies between March 2024 and June 2025 to bid on legitimate shipping contracts, prosecutors said.
After securing the contracts, members of the conspiracy picked up cargo loads but stole the goods rather than delivering them to their intended destinations, prosecutors said.

The stolen shipments included televisions, laptops, appliances and other high-value consumer products, along with vacuums, LED lights, shoes and tires. Prosecutors estimated the losses at at least $2 million.
The thefts occurred in Fontana, Vernon, Santa Fe Springs, Perris, City of Industry, Long Beach, Compton, Commerce, Pico Rivera, Chino and Moreno Valley, as well as Grand Prairie, Texas.
Prosecutors said the defendants sometimes bought established trucking companies to carry out the thefts.
In March 2024, Arshpreet Singh met with the owner of Texas-based Z&F Transportation LLC and purchased the company for about $22,000, prosecutors said.
Later that month, a co-conspirator working on behalf of Z&F Transportation picked up a shipment of televisions in Fontana that was supposed to be delivered to Florida. The load never reached its destination, prosecutors said.
In May 2024, co-conspirators purchased Skyways Trucking LLC and used the company to steal shipments that included laptops, televisions and solar panels.
Members of the conspiracy also booked shipments through freight brokers including Uber Freight, picked up the cargo and failed to deliver it, according to prosecutors.
U.S. District Judge Anne Hwang scheduled sentencing hearings for Jan. 20.
Arshpreet Singh faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, while Vikramjeet Singh faces a maximum of five years.
