Two Dead Following Deputy-Involved Shooting In Bellflower
Deputies say they encountered a man armed with a handgun while trying to rescue an unresponsive elderly woman, leading to a shooting.
BELLFLOWER, CA — Two people were killed in a deputy-involved shooting incident at a Bellflower residence Sunday.
Deputies responded about 1 p.m. Sunday to a medical rescue call in the 9500 block of Maplewood Street, east of Lakewood Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Upon arrival, deputies looked through an open window and saw an unresponsive elderly woman covered in blood, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies entered the residence to rescue the woman and render aid and encountered a man who armed himself with a handgun, according to the department. A deputy-involved shooting then occurred.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced both parties dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.
