One Merced sushi restaurant received an “unsatisfactory” grade for temperature and sanitation issues, while a Los Banos bar and grill was rated “satisfactory.” Residents can use these results to make informed dining choices.
   

• Update: Stone Fire in Merced County remains fully contained by noon Thursday (sacbee.com) — A small wildfire dubbed the Stone Fire burned 23 acres near West Stone Road and North Creek Road by Los Banos but was fully contained by Thursday noon, according to Cal Fire. Crews have stopped the fire’s spread, though it may continue burning within control lines while investigators work to determine the cause and monitor conditions.
   

• Central Valley softball standouts recognized at WAC year-end head coaches' meeting (cerescourier.com) — Los Banos hosted the Western Athletic Conference head coaches’ meeting where Central Valley softball standouts, led by MVP pitcher and slugger Brooklynn Steeley, were honored for a breakout 12-2 league season. Several teammates earned major awards and all-league spots, capping a big turnaround from last year’s .500 finish.
