Planned fixes target subsidence-damaged sections by Mendota, Firebaugh, Dos Palos, and west of Los Banos, aiming to protect agriculture and local economies from reduced canal capacity.
   

• Missouri Prosecutors Charge Los Banos Substitute Teacher in Child Enticement Case (losbanosenterprise.com) — Los Banos readers should know a local coach and substitute teacher has been arrested in town and is awaiting extradition to Missouri on serious child-enticement charges. District officials say he is no longer working in Los Banos schools and report no known local allegations, while police and out-of-state investigators continue their case.
   

• Latest Merced County restaurant inspections. How area schools, markets fared (mercedsunstar.com) — A Los Banos restaurant, Carnitas Del Bajio on H Street, earned a “good” rating in Merced County’s latest round of health inspections conducted April 9–13. Overall, nine businesses countywide received “good” scores and one was rated “satisfactory,” with officials explaining how violation points translate into each grade and when more serious issues can trigger closures or reinspections.
