2. Malibu Farmers Market Returning to Longtime Location Sunday (patch.com) — Malibu's weekly Farmers Market is moving back to its longtime Malibu Library county lot location this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., after a brief relocation to City Hall. 3. Women's Volleyball Opens Season with Dominant Victory over Villanova (pepperdinewaves.com) — Pepperdine's women's volleyball team opened its 2026 season with a strong 3–1 home win over Villanova in Malibu, highlighted by 15 kills from Chloe Pravednikov and a standout all-around performance from Ella Piskorz. The Waves shook off a second-set stumble, regrouped behind key blocks and kills, and gave local fans an energetic start to the fall sports season.

4. Record-Breaking El Niño Could Bring California a Winter of Floods, Extreme Weather (americancommunitymedia.org subscription) — Closures along parts of Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu are already being driven by worsening coastal erosion, and experts warn this winter's record-strength El Niño could bring more flooding and damage to Southern California. Warmer oceans, higher king tides, and heavier rains are expected to converge between December and March, raising risks for coastal roads, low-lying communities, and public health across the state.
