Malibu to Soon Begin 8,000-Foot Fiber Communications Network Buildout (westsidecurrent.com) — Malibu will start installing 8,000 feet of underground fiber next month, linking City Hall and Civic Center Way traffic signals to a new five-city regional network. Expect construction along Malibu Canyon Road, Webb Way, Stuart Ranch Road, and Civic Center Way through December, with extended work into 2027 in unincorporated areas, aimed at improving public safety, traffic management, and future broadband options.
   

2. Celebrities and FOX Volunteers Join Habitat for Humanity to Help Palisades Fire Families Rebuild (pulptastic.com) — Habitat for Humanity's four-day community build in Pacific Palisades and Malibu is bringing hundreds of volunteers, including celebrities, to help Palisades Fire survivors frame new homes and repair damaged properties. Nearly 1,000 homes are under construction, but many Malibu families still face financial gaps, with nonprofits and corporate partners stepping in to furnish houses and support long-term recovery.
   

3. Venomous yellow-bellied sea snake washes ashore in California's Orange County, first since 2018 (thecooldown.com) — Unusual warm-water conditions brought a venomous yellow-bellied sea snake ashore in Orange County, part of a string of rare marine sightings that also includes a hammerhead shark hooked at Malibu Pier. Experts say the snake is dangerous only if handled, but they urge Malibu and Southern California beachgoers to keep their distance from unfamiliar sea creatures and report sightings to wildlife officials.
   

4. Hundreds Choose Christ as College Revival Reaches Pepperdine: 'What a night!! What a God!!' (cbn.com) — Pepperdine students in Malibu packed a UniteUS revival event this week, with organizers saying hundreds chose to commit their lives to Christ and many were baptized. Speakers urged students to find purpose and bring hidden struggles into the light, while attendees described a powerful night of worship that drew churches, students, and seekers from across Southern California.
