• Driving drunk in California brings tougher DUI penalties (latination.com) — New statewide DUI laws, inspired partly by a family now living in Manhattan Beach, sharply increase penalties for repeat impaired drivers and fatal crashes. The Levi family, who moved here after losing their son to a drunk driver, helped push for tougher sentencing, longer license revocations, and more ignition interlock requirements aimed at preventing similar tragedies across California.
   

• Palisades' wildfire recovery gets a 'Catholic Coalition' boost (angelusnews.com) — Pacific Palisades wildfire survivors are getting a major boost from Habitat for Humanity and a 16-parish Catholic Coalition that includes American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach. Hundreds of volunteers, clergy, and local donors are helping clear lots, frame new homes, and repair affordable housing so displaced seniors, renters, and longtime residents can finally return, with "hope" as their guiding theme.
