• Suspicious Vehicle at Mira Costa Causes Shelter-In-Place (thembnews.com) — A shelter-in-place at Mira Costa High School and Pennekamp Elementary in Manhattan Beach was triggered Tuesday after students reported a suspicious vehicle that was later found to contain weapons. Police determined the owner, a subcontractor working on campus, had no apparent intent to harm, took the person into custody, and removed the company from all MBUSD campuses. Classes have fully resumed and police are maintaining extra patrols around schools.
   

• Home Sales Volume Shrinking - (randomlengthsnews.com) — Home sales across the South Bay, including Manhattan Beach, fell 12% in August, even as the broader year-over-year decline was just 1%. The "Beach" cities group that includes Manhattan Beach is the only area with year-to-date sales growth, though prices and volume are softening amid high mortgage rates and lingering pandemic-era market distortions. The author expects rising rates to further cool sales and push sellers to cut prices.
   

• USC coach Eric Musselman apologizes for clash with treasure hunter (nypost.com) — USC men's basketball coach Eric Musselman is apologizing after a profanity-laced confrontation with a YouTube metal detectorist while the team posed for photos under the Manhattan Beach pier on Sunday. Video of the clash surfaced just as Musselman also faces a lawsuit from a former player alleging a separate, racially charged outburst earlier this year.
