• Manhattan Beach Firefighters Deployed to Fight MP18 Fire (thembnews.com) — Manhattan Beach's deputy fire chief and a division chief are currently deployed with a statewide strike team to help fight the MP18 Fire in Humboldt County, which is more than 70% contained. City officials say the firefighters are expected back by week's end, continuing a long tradition of MBFD assisting with major wildfires across California.
   

• Team Events Close Out the Week at the 2026 Elite Track… (usacycling.org) — A Manhattan Beach cyclist, Kat Kendall, was part of a women's team pursuit squad that claimed third place at the USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships in Carson. The four-day event at the VELO Sports Center crowned multiple national champions in team pursuit and team sprint, with several South Bay and Southern California riders earning podium spots.
