• Essex unloads Marina del Rey apartments for less than 2004 sale price (therealdeal.com) — A major Marina del Rey apartment complex, The Promenade at Marina City Club on Admiralty Way, has been sold for $24.8 million, less than its 2004 price despite extensive upgrades. The 101-unit waterfront property, on county-leased land through 2067, remains highly leased and includes boardwalk access, pools, gyms, courts, commercial space, and hundreds of boat slips amid a hot countywide multifamily market. 
• J.K. Rowling's Secretive $150 Million Superyacht Stuns Marina del Rey (Video) (fresnobee.com) — Residents in Marina del Rey have been spotting a massive, 290-foot superyacht believed to belong to author J.K. Rowling, docked with its name covered yet still drawing plenty of attention. The visit has locals buzzing about the vessel's extravagant features and also rekindled online debate over Rowling's views on transgender rights, even as the yacht remains an eye-catching presence along the waterfront.
