On Thursday May 21st, 2026 from 4 pm to 6 pm, at the Legallet residence, 88 Selby Lane, Atherton, Karl Gercens III, a Longwood Garden employee for close to 30 years, will give us a talk on his favorite topic, Plants!

Karl is plant passionate, travel guru, with an emphasis on garden touring. He is a popular speaker all over the United States for Garden clubs, horticulture groups, Garden and Flower shows. He is also known for his beautiful garden and travel posts on Facebook and TikTok.
Karl is originally from Mississippi, a graduate of Mississippi State, interned at Longwood and Disneyworld. In 1996 he was an apprentice gardener at Filoli.
He is a Senior Gardener at Longwood, in charge of the Main and East Conservatory. Karl's responsibilities include display design, plant selection, installation, and maintenance. He runs a team of 20 including students and volunteers. He also teaches Longwood students.
