Tidal Flooding Closes 2 Mill Valley Roads Again: Police
Record-high tides are causing coastal flooding across California, with more high tides expected in the coming weeks.
MILL VALLEY, CA — Two roads in Mill Valley were closed again Wednesday due to tidal flooding as exceptionally high tides continued to affect California’s coast, police said.
Miller Avenue was closed between Camino Alto and Almonte, the Mill Valley Police Department said at 12:33 p.m.
At 1:07 p.m., police announced that Redwood Highway Frontage Road was also closed between Hamilton Drive and 555 Redwood Highway Frontage Rd.

Unusually warm Pacific waters, El Niño conditions and other ocean patterns have pushed water levels above astronomical tide predictions, officials said. Los Angeles Harbor broke a 100-year record on consecutive days this week.
The National Weather Service has warned of coastal flooding in low-lying areas around San Francisco and Monterey bays, with potential road closures and coastal erosion.
The highest predicted astronomical tides of the season are still expected around Thanksgiving and Christmas, though the extent of future flooding will depend on ocean conditions and whether large waves or storms coincide with high tides.
Drivers should avoid the closed roadways and monitor local updates for reopening information.
