• South Fork High cancels graduation ceremony in 1926 (times-standard.com) — A century ago, South Fork Union High School in Miranda had to cancel its 1926 picnic and graduation program because of a chicken pox outbreak that had already closed the school for two weeks. The story comes from a week of Humboldt Times clippings, which also recall early Redway YMCA camps, Eureka crime reports, and a failed transit bond vote. It’s a nostalgic look at how Miranda and nearby communities handled challenges long before today.
