• Forward Progress Stopped On 200+ Acre Gibby Fire But Ortega Highway Still Closed (patch.com) — A fast-moving brush fire dubbed the Gibby Fire has burned over 200 acres near Ortega Highway in Rancho Mission Viejo, halting traffic and prompting temporary shelter-in-place orders and park closures. Firefighters have stopped the blaze's forward progress but containment remains at zero percent, and Ortega Highway closures continue. Smoke from the fire has been visible across south Orange County, including in Mission Viejo.
